Alberto “Beto” Garcia was named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Otero College after serving as an assistant for both Otero College and CSU Pueblo during the 2023–2024 seasons.

A former Otero Rattler himself, Garcia played under former Head Coach Chris Smith and now current Dean of Students Coach Johnny Adame. His deep connection to the program and commitment to developing student-athletes have been central to his coaching philosophy.

Garcia’s experience in the soccer world extends well beyond the collegiate game. He previously worked with Sacramento Republic FC, where he served as an academy player and volunteer coach. During his time there, he helped with local ID camps, involved in community events, and assisted with Academy trainings, further enriching his understanding of the professional development pathway.

Throughout his coaching career, Garcia has accumulated an impressive list of accomplishments:

  • 2019 NJCAA Region 9 Runner-Up – as a player at Otero College
  • 2× NCAA Division II RMAC Champion – as an assistant coach at CSU Pueblo
  • 2× NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Champion – as an assistant coach at CSU Pueblo
  • NCAA Division II National Finalist – as an assistant coach at CSU Pueblo
  • 2023 NJCAA Region 9 Regular Season Champion
  • 2024 NJCAA Region 9 Runner-Up
  • 2025 NJCAA Region 9 Regular Season Champion
  • 2025 NJCAA Region 9 Tournament Champion
  • 2025 Northwest District West Plains Champion

In 2025, Garcia made history by becoming the youngest head coach in the country to lead a team to the NJCAA National Tournament, and the youngest in junior college history to win a Region, District, and Regular Season Championship in the same year. He also became the first coach in Otero College men’s soccer history to win a match at the NJCAA National Tournament, further solidifying his place in program history. Since taking over the program, Garcia has guided Otero to an overall record of 31-8-9 and an outstanding conference record of 22-2-6, firmly establishing the Rattlers as one of the premier programs in Region 9 and across the nation. Driven, disciplined, and deeply committed to player development, Coach Garcia continues to build a culture of excellence, character, and ambition at Otero College.
