Otero College has announced Marc Benjamin as the new Head Coach for the Rattlers' softball team, with an official start date of August 1, 2025. Benjamin brings a wealth of experience and a commendable track record from his previous coaching roles, strengthening the team's prospects for upcoming seasons.
Benjamin's most recent position was Head Softball Coach at New Mexico Highlands University. His coaching career includes a notably successful tenure at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he led the team to a school record of 35-14 in 2022, earning him Coach of the Year honors for the Sooner Athletic Conference. Additionally, his leadership at Barton Community College from 2014 to 2017 resulted in a 138-68 record and multiple accolades, including a Region VI championship and recognition as Co Coach of the Year for KJCCC.
Upon accepting the role at Otero College, Coach Benjamin expressed his gratitude and excitement about leading the Rattlers. 'I am blessed and grateful for this opportunity to lead the Otero Softball program. I want to thank President Dr. Zant, former AD Gary Addington, and the search committee for believing in me,' said Benjamin. His appointment is viewed as a strategic move to harness his proven coaching abilities to elevate the team's performance in the challenging collegiate softball landscape.
