Otero College Names Carlos Quintero Head Women's Soccer Coach
LA JUNTA, CO — Otero College is proud to announce the hiring of Carlos Quintero as the new Head Coach of the Women's Soccer program. Quintero brings over 13 years of extensive soccer coaching experience, a disciplined leadership background derived from seven years of honorable military service, and specialized expertise in sports media and public affairs.
Quintero emerges into this role with a proven track record of player development across
multiple levels of competition. Quintero has directed competitive club teams within the National Premier Leagues with Colorado Springs Rush and coached elite youth talents with the B-Elite Soccer Academy in Colorado Springs. He also served as Head Coach for the Fountain-Fort Carson High School boys' soccer program and Assistant Coach for the girls' program. Additionally, his extensive tactical foundation is backed by a United States
Soccer Association (USCSA) "C" License.
Otero College Director of Athletics, Kyle Spencer, stated, "Throughout this search, we looked for a leader who would provide long-term stability and a truly holistic approach to coaching our student-athletes. Coach Quintero has an exceptional background from his tactical expertise on the pitch to his disciplined leadership in the military, but most importantly, he cares deeply about developing the whole person, not just the athlete. Under Coach Quintero, our women's soccer program will thrive academically, athletically, and within our community."
Beyond his tactical coaching credentials, Quintero brings a robust set of logistical and
organizational competencies to the Rattlers. He has served as a regional tournament director in Colorado for more than three years, seamlessly managing large-scale logistics, collaborating with clubs and match officials, and resolving operations under pressure—skills that translate directly into managing an elite collegiate athletic program.
Quintero's leadership style is heavily informed by his seven-year tenure in the United States
Army (2018–2025), where he served as an Information Technology Specialist and Public Affairs Mass Communication Specialist. During his service, he led communication connectivity efforts for the prestigious 4th Infantry Division.
Complementing his on-field leadership, Quintero will leverage an impressive background in
sports marketing and digital media to drive recruiting and elevate the program's profile. He
holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bacone College, where he previously worked as a Graphic Designer and Sports Media Specialist. His multi-disciplinary skills span advanced digital design, photography, videography, and broadcasting management—including live-streaming home matches and overseeing athletic statistics.
Otero College is enthusiastic about the future of the women's soccer program under Quintero's holistic mentorship, looking forward to strong athletic execution, academic accountability, and vibrant community integration.
